"We can't," they said. "Not until all the shepherds get here. It takes all of us to roll the stone from the well. Not until then can we water the flocks."

“We can’t,” they replied, “until all the flocks are gathered and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the well. Then we will water the sheep.”

“We can’t water the animals until all the flocks have arrived,” they replied. “Then the shepherds move the stone from the mouth of the well, and we water all the sheep and goats.”

And they said, We are not able to do so till all the flocks have come together and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the water-hole; then we will get water for the sheep.

They answered, "We can't, not until all the flocks have been gathered together, and they roll the stone away from the opening of the well. That's when we water the sheep."

Und sie sprachen: Wir können nicht, bis alle Herden zusammengetrieben werden; dann wälzt man den Stein von der Öffnung des Brunnens, und wir tränken die Schafe.

And they said, We cannot until all the flocks are gathered together and until they roll the stone from the well’s mouth, that we may water the sheep.

"We can't," they replied. "We have to wait until all of the flocks are brought together. The stone has to be rolled away from the opening of the well. Then we'll give water to the sheep."

—No podemos dar de beber a los animales hasta que hayan llegado todos los rebaños —contestaron—. Entonces los pastores quitan la piedra de la boca del pozo y damos de beber a todas las ovejas y las cabras.

Y ellos respondieron:—No podemos hacerlo hasta que se junten todos los rebaños y los pastores quiten la piedra que está sobre la boca del pozo. Solo entonces podremos dar de beber a las ovejas.

Which answered, We may not till all the sheep be gathered together, and till we remove the stone from the mouth of the well, to water the flocks (then we shall water the flocks).
