1After these thingsJesuswentover the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.2And a greatmultitudefollowedhim, because they sawhismiracleswhich he didon them that were diseased .
3AndJesus went upinto a mountain,andthere he satwithhisdisciples.4And the passover, a feast of the Jews,wasnigh.5
When Jesusthen lifted up his eyes, andsaw a greatcompanycomeuntohim, he saithuntoPhilip,Whence shall we buybread, thatthese may eat ?6Andthis he said to provehim:for he himselfknewwhat he woulddo .
7Philipansweredhim, Two hundredpennyworth of breadisnotsufficient for them, that every one of them may takealittle.8Oneofhisdisciples,Andrew,SimonPeter'sbrother,saith unto him,9
There isaladhere, whichhathfivebarleyloaves, andtwo small fishes:butwhataretheyamong so many?10AndJesussaid , Make the men sit down .Now there wasmuchgrassin the place. So the men sat down , in numberabout five thousand.11AndJesustook the loaves;and when he had given thanks , he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down ; andlikewiseof the fishes as much as they would .
12Whenthey were filled , he said unto hisdisciples,Gather up the fragments that remain , that nothingbelost .13Therefore they gathered them together , andfilledtwelvebaskets with the fragmentsof the fivebarleyloaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten .
14Then those men, when they had seen the miraclethatJesusdid , said , Thisis of a truth that prophet that should comeinto the world.15
When Jesusthereforeperceivedthat they wouldcomeandtakehim by force , tomakehim a king, he departedagaininto a mountainhimselfalone.16Andwheneven was now come , hisdisciples went downunto the sea,17Andenteredinto a ship, and wentover the seatowardCapernaum. And it wasnowdark,andJesuswasnotcometothem.18And the seaarose by reason of a greatwind that blew .
19So when they had rowedaboutfive and twentyorthirtyfurlongs, they seeJesuswalkingon the sea, anddrawingnigh unto the ship:and they were afraid .
20But he saith unto them,It isI;benotafraid .21Then they willinglyreceivedhiminto the ship:andimmediately the shipwasat the landwhithertheywent .

The day following, when the peoplewhichstood on the other side of the seasawthat there wasnoneotherboatthere, savethatonewhereintohisdisciples were entered , andthatJesuswentnotwithhisdisciplesinto the boat, but that hisdisciples were gone awayalone;23
(Howbeit therecameotherboatsfromTiberiasnigh unto the placewhere they did eatbread, after that the Lord had given thanks :)
24When the peoplethereforesawthatJesuswasnotthere, neitherhisdisciples, theyalsotookshipping, andcametoCapernaum, seeking forJesus.25And when they had foundhim on the other side of the sea, they said unto him,Rabbi, when camest thouhither?26Jesusansweredthemandsaid , Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seekme, notbecause ye saw the miracles, butbecause ye did eatof the loaves, and were filled .27Labournota for the meatwhichperisheth , but for that meatwhichendurethuntoeverlastinglife, which the Son of man shall give unto you:forhimhathGod the Fathersealed .28Then said theyuntohim,What shall we do , that we might work the works of God?29Jesusansweredandsaid unto them,Thisis the work of God,that ye believeonhimwhom he hath sent .30
They saidtherefore unto him,Whatsignshewestthouthen, that we may see , andbelievethee?what dost thou work ?
31Ourfathers did eatmannain the desert;as it iswritten , He gavethembreadfromheaven to eat .
32ThenJesussaid unto them,Verily, verily, I say unto you,Mosesgaveyounot that breadfromheaven;butmyFathergivethyou the truebreadfromheaven.33For the bread of God is hewhich cometh downfromheaven, andgivethlife unto the world.34Then said theyuntohim,Lord,evermoregiveusthisbread.35AndJesussaid unto them,Iam the bread of life: he that comethtome shall neverhunger ; and he that believethonmeshallneverthirst .36But I said unto you,Thatyealso have seenme,andbelievenot.37Allthat the Fathergivethme shall cometome;and him that comethtome I will in no wisecastout.38For I came downfromheaven, nottodo mine ownwill, but the will of him that sentme.39Andthisis the Father'swillwhich hath sentme, that of allwhich he hath givenme I should losenothing , but should raiseit up againat the lastday.40Andthisis the will of him that sentme, that every onewhichseeth the Son,andbelievethonhim, may haveeverlastinglife:andI will raisehimup at the lastday.41
The Jewsthenmurmuredathim, because he said , Iam the breadwhich came downfromheaven.42And they said , IsnotthisJesus, the son of Joseph, whosefatherandmotherweknow ? how is itthen that hesaith , I came downfromheaven?43Jesusthereforeansweredandsaid unto them,Murmurnotamongyourselves.44No mancancometome, except the Fatherwhich hath sentmedrawhim:andI will raisehimup at the lastday.45It iswrittenin the prophets,And they shall bealltaught of God. Every mantherefore that hath heard , and hath learnedof the Father,comethuntome.46Notthat any man hath seen the Father, save he whichis of God,he hath seen the Father.47Verily,verily, I say unto you, He that believethonmehatheverlastinglife.48Iam that bread of life.49Yourfathers did eatmannain the wilderness, and are dead .50Thisis the breadwhich cometh downfromheaven, that a man may eatthereof , andnotdie .51Iam the livingbreadwhich came downfromheaven:if any maneatofthisbread, he shall liveforever:andthebreadthatI will giveismyflesh, whichI will givefor the life of the world.52
The Jewsthereforestroveamongthemselves, saying , Howcan this mangiveus his flesh to eat ?
53ThenJesussaid unto them,Verily, verily, I say unto you,Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, anddrinkhisblood, ye havenolifeinyou.54Whoso eatethmyflesh, anddrinkethmyblood, hatheternallife;andI will raisehimup at the lastday.55Formyfleshismeatindeed,andmybloodisdrinkindeed.56He that eatethmyflesh, anddrinkethmyblood, dwellethinme, and Iinhim.57As the livingFather hath sentme, and Iliveby the Father:so he that eatethme, even he shall livebyme.58Thisis that breadwhich came downfromheaven:notasyourfathers did eatmanna, and are dead : he that eateth of thisbread shall liveforever.59
These things said hein the synagogue, as he taughtinCapernaum.60Manythereforeofhisdisciples, when they had heard this, said , Thisis an hardsaying;whocanhearit?61WhenJesusknewinhimselfthathisdisciplesmurmuredatit, he said unto them,Doth thisoffendbyou?62What andif ye shall see the Son of man ascend upwhere he wasbefore?63It is the spirit that quickeneth ; the fleshprofitethnothing: the wordsthatIspeak unto you, they arespirit, and they arelife.64But there aresomeofyouthatbelievenot.ForJesusknewfrom the beginningwho they were that believednot,andwhoshouldbetrayhim.65And he said , ThereforesaidI unto you, that no mancancomeuntome, except it weregiven unto himofmyFather.66Fromthat time many of hisdiscipleswentback , andwalked no morewithhim.67ThensaidJesus unto the twelve , Willyealso go away ?68ThenSimonPeteransweredhim,Lord,towhom shall we go ? thou hast the words of eternallife.69Andwebelieveand are surethatthouart that Christ, the Son of the livingGod.70Jesusansweredthem,HavenotIchosenyoutwelve,andoneofyouis a devil?71Hespake of JudasIscariot the son of Simon:forhe it was that shouldbetrayhim, beingoneof the twelve.
