The day for building your walls1 will come, the day for extending your boundaries.
In that day people will come to you from Assyria2 and the cities of Egypt, even from Egypt to the Euphrates and from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.313
The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds.4
Shepherd5 your people with your staff,6 the flock of your inheritance, which lives by itself in a forest, in fertile pasturelands.a7 Let them feed in Bashan8 and Gilead9 as in days long ago.1015
"As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders.11"
Nations will see and be ashamed,12 deprived of all their power. They will lay their hands on their mouths13 and their ears will become deaf.
They will lick dust14 like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling15 out of their dens; they will turn in fear16 to the LORD our God and will be afraid of you.
Who is a God17 like you, who pardons sin18 and forgives19 the transgression of the remnant20 of his inheritance?21 You do not stay angry22 forever but delight to show mercy.2319
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities24 into the depths of the sea.2520
You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham,26 as you pledged on oath to our fathers27 in days long ago.28
