Common English Bible (CEB) New International Version (NIV)
Please, LORD, don't punish me when you are angry; don't discipline me when you are furious. 1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
Have mercy on me, LORD, because I'm frail. Heal me, LORD, because my bones are shaking in terror! 2 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.
My whole body is completely terrified! But you, LORD! How long will this last? 3 My soul is in anguish. How long, O LORD, how long?
Come back to me, LORD! Deliver me! Save me for the sake of your faithful love! 4 Turn, O LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
No one is going to praise you when they are dead. Who gives you thanks from the grave? 5 No one remembers you when he is dead. Who praises you from the grave ?
I'm worn out from groaning. Every night, I drench my bed with tears; I soak my couch all the way through. 6 I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
My vision fails because of my grief; it's weak because of all my distress. 7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.
Get away from me, all you evildoers, because the LORD has heard me crying! 8 Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
The LORD has listened to my request. The LORD accepts my prayer. 9 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
All my enemies will be ashamed and completely terrified; they will be defeated and ashamed instantly. 10 All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.
