Psalm 4

BBE 1 <To the chief music-maker on corded instruments. A Psalm. Of David.> Give answer to my cry, O God of my righteousness; make me free from my troubles; have mercy on me, and give ear to my prayer. NIV 1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. BBE 2 O you sons of men, how long will you go on turning my glory into shame? how long will you give your love to foolish things, going after what is false? (Selah.) NIV 2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame ? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods ? "Selah" BBE 3 See how the Lord has made great his mercy for me; the Lord will give ear to my cry. NIV 3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. BBE 4 Let there be fear in your hearts, and do no sin; have bitter feelings on your bed, but make no sound. (Selah.) NIV 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. "Selah" BBE 5 Give the offerings of righteousness, and put your faith in the Lord. NIV 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. BBE 6 There are numbers who say, Who will do us any good? the light of his face has gone from us. NIV 6 Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. BBE 7 Lord, you have put joy in my heart, more than they have when their grain and their wine are increased. NIV 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. BBE 8 I will take my rest on my bed in peace, because you only, Lord, keep me safe. NIV 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
