So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,1 continue to live your lives in him,
rooted2 and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught,3 and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,4 which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forcesa of this world5 rather than on Christ.
For in Christ all the fullness6 of the Deity lives in bodily form,
and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head7 over every power and authority.811
In him you were also circumcised9 with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your sinful natureb10 was put off when you were circumcised byc Christ,
having been buried with him in baptism,11 in which you were also raised with him12 through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.1313
When you were dead in your sins14 and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature,d God made youe alive15 with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,1614
having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,17 which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.1815
And having disarmed the powers and authorities,19 he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them20 by the cross.f
