Génesis 8:1-19

1 Y se acordó Dios de Noé y de todas las bestias y de todo el ganado que estaban con él en el arca; y Dios hizo pasar un viento sobre la tierra y decrecieron las aguas.

2 Y se cerraron las fuentes del abismo y las compuertas del cielo, y se detuvo la lluvia del cielo.

3 Las aguas bajaron gradualmente de sobre la tierra, y al cabo de ciento cincuenta días, las aguas habían decrecido.

4 Y en el mes séptimo, el día diecisiete del mes, el arca descansó sobre los montes de Ararat.

5 Las aguas fueron decreciendo paulatinamente hasta el mes décimo; y el día primero del mes décimo, se vieron las cimas de los montes.

6 Y aconteció que al cabo de cuarenta días, Noé abrió la ventana del arca que él había hecho,

7 y envió un cuervo, que estuvo yendo y viniendo hasta que se secaron las aguas sobre la tierra.

8 Después envió una paloma para ver si las aguas habían disminuido sobre la superficie de la tierra,

9 pero la paloma no encontró lugar donde posarse, de modo que volvió a él, al arca, porque las aguas estaban sobre la superficie de toda la tierra. Entonces extendió su mano, la tomó y la metió consigo en el arca.

10 Esperó aún otros siete días, y volvió a enviar la paloma desde el arca.

11 Y hacia el atardecer la paloma regresó a él, y he aquí, en su pico traía una hoja de olivo recién arrancada. Entonces Noé comprendió que las aguas habían disminuido sobre la tierra.

12 Esperó aún otros siete días, y envió la paloma, pero ya no volvió más a él.

13 Y aconteció que en el año seiscientos uno de Noé, en el mes primero, el día primero del mes, se secaron las aguas sobre la tierra. Entonces Noé quitó la cubierta del arca y miró, y he aquí, estaba seca la superficie de la tierra.

14 Y en el mes segundo, el día veintisiete del mes, estaba seca la tierra.

15 Entonces habló Dios a Noé, diciendo:

16 Sal del arca tú, y contigo tu mujer, tus hijos y las mujeres de tus hijos.

17 Saca contigo todo ser viviente de toda carne que está contigo: aves, ganados y todo reptil que se arrastra sobre la tierra, para que se reproduzcan en abundancia sobre la tierra, y sean fecundos y se multipliquen sobre la tierra.

18 Salió, pues, Noé, y con él sus hijos y su mujer y las mujeres de sus hijos.

19 Y todas las bestias, todos los reptiles, todas las aves y todo lo que se mueve sobre la tierra, salieron del arca según sus familias.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 8

This chapter gives an account of the going off of the waters from the earth, and of the entire deliverance of Noah, and those with him in the ark, from the flood, when all the rest were destroyed: after an one hundred and fifty days a wind is sent over the earth, the fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven are stopped, the waters go off gradually, and the ark rests on Mount Ararat, Ge 8:1-4 two months and thirteen days after that the tops of the mountains were seen, Ge 8:5 and forty days after the appearance of them, Noah sent forth first a raven, and then a dove, and that a second time, to know more of the abatement of the waters, Ge 8:6-12. When Noah had been in the ark ten months and thirteen days, he uncovered it, and the earth was dry, yet not so dry as to be fit for him to go out upon, until near two months after, Ge 8:13,14 when he had an order from God to go out of the ark, with all that were with him, which was accordingly obeyed, Ge 8:15-19 upon which he offered sacrifice by way of thankfulness for his great deliverance, which was accepted by the Lord; who promised him not to curse the earth any more, nor to drown it, but that it should remain, and as long as it did there would be the constant revolutions of the seasons of the year, and of day and night, Ge 8:20-22.
