1 Kings 15:8-12

8 And Abijam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son Asa reigned in his place.

Asa Reigns in Judah

9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Asa became king of Judah, 1
10 and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s [a] name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.
11 And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done.
12 He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 15

In this chapter we have a short history of the reign of Abijam, 1Ki 15:1-8 and of Asa, 1Ki 14:9-24, both kings of Judah; and of the reigns of Nadab the son of Jeroboam, and of Baasha, who destroyed his family, both kings of Israel, 1Ki 15:25-34.
