1 John 5:6-12

Listen to 1 John 5:6-12

6 This Son of God is Jesus Christ, who came by water and blood. He didn't come with water only, but with water and with blood. The Spirit is the one who verifies this, because the Spirit is the truth.

7 There are three witnesses:

8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood. These three witnesses agree.

9 We accept human testimony. God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony that he has given about his Son.

10 Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony of God in them. Those who don't believe God have made God a liar. They haven't believed the testimony that God has given about his Son.

11 This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is found in his Son.

12 The person who has the Son has this life. The person who doesn't have the Son of God doesn't have this life.

And they were powerful and convincing. But today we want you to pause and consider whether or not you’ve received and believed these witnesses of heaven? If you haven’t, that can change today. Christ alone

The question is do you have Christ? Is He your Savior? Are you trusting Him in such a way that if God would even say to you, “You must have something else,” you’d turn and walk away because you’d say to Him, “I only trusted Christ as my Savior.” My friend, if you haven’t come to that point, you just haven’t come anywhere at all. Because to be saved means you trust Christ, and it means you have Christ as your Savior. “He that hath the Son hath life.” He’s our lifeboat. He’s our lifeline. He’s our only hope. We’re lost without Him. And if we have Him, we have life.

The Word of God cleanses us

The only miracle cleansing thing that’s in the world today is the Word of God. It can save you—“…born again not by corruptible seed, but by incorruptible, the Word of God that liveth and abideth forever,” for it presents Christ who shed His blood for your sins and my sins. He died for our sins. He was raised for our justification. The Word of God can keep you clean down here. Now you can spray with every kind of a spray deodorant there is; you can rub it on, you can pour it on. And, my friends, it won’t clean you on the inside. Only the Word of God can keep you clean today.
