And it came about at that time, that Judah departed from his brothers and visited a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

w{m.v.W yin][;n.K#st03669 vyia#st0376 -t;B#st01323 h'd.Wh.y#st03063 ~'v -a.r;Y;w ? 'hy,lea a{b'Y;w 'h,x'QiY;w ;[.Wv3 So she conceived and bore a son and he named * him Er.
re[ w{m.v -t,a a'r.qiY;w !eB d,leT;w r;h;T;w4 Then she conceived again and bore a son and named * him Onan.
w{m.v -t,a a'r.qiT;w !eB d,leT;w dw{[ r;h;T;w ? !'nw{a5 She bore still another son and named * him Shelah; and it was at Chezib that she bore him.
w{m.v -t,a a'r.qiT;w !eB d,leT;w dw{[ @,s{T;w ? w{t{a H'T.dil.B byiz.kib#st03580 h'y'h.w h'lev6 Now Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
r'm'T H'm.v.W w{rw{k.B re[.l#st06147 h'Via#st0802 h'd.Wh.y#st03063 x;QiY;w7 But Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the sight of the LORD, so the LORD took his life.
h'wh.y#st03068 yenye[.B [;r#st07451 h'd.Wh.y rw{k.B re[#st06147 yih.y;w ? h'wh.y .Whetim.y;w8 Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother."

So Tamar went and lived in her father's house.

And she said, "Your seal and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand." So he gave them to her and went in to her, and she conceived by him.

H'a'c.m21 He asked the men of her place, saying, "Where is the temple prostitute who was by the road at Enaim?" But they said, "There has been no temple prostitute here."

"
'hyita'c.m a{l r,ma{Y;w h'd.Wh.y -l,a b'v'Y;w ? h,z'b h't.y'h -a{l .Wr.m'a ~w{q'M;h#st04725 yev.n;a#st0582 ~;g.w ? h'ved.q23 Then Judah said, "Let her keep them, otherwise we will become a laughingstock. After all, I sent this young goat, but you did not find her."

Then Judah said, "Bring her out and let her be burned!"

H'n.jib.B ~yimw{a.t heNih.w H'T.dil te[.B yih.y;w28 Moreover, it took place while she was giving birth, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, "This one came out first."
