38 ¹The sons of Seir were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.

1 Chronicles 1:38 Meaning and Commentary

Ver. 38-42. And the sons of Seir
This man and his posterity were not of the race of Esau, but are mentioned because they were a family into which Esau, and a son of his, married, and whose possessions he and his obtained. The account from hence, to the end of ( 1 Chronicles 1:42 ) is the same with ( Genesis 36:20-28 ) , with some little variation of names.

36 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zephi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna and Amalek.

37 The sons of Reuel were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.

38 The sons of Seir were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.

39 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Homam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.

40 The sons of Shobal were Alian, Manahath, Ebal, Shephi and Onam. And the sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah.
