31 Joacaz gobierna en Judá
Joacaz tenía veintitrés años cuando subió al trono y reinó en Jerusalén tres meses. Su madre se llamaba Hamutal y era hija de Jeremías, de Libna.

32 Joacaz hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor
, igual que sus antepasados.

33 El faraón Necao metió a Joacaz en la cárcel de Ribla, en la tierra de Hamat, para impedir que gobernara
en Jerusalén. También exigió que Judá pagara un tributo de tres mil cuatrocientos kilos de plata, y treinta y cuatro kilos de oro.

34 Joacim gobierna en Judá
Luego el faraón Necao puso en el trono a Eliaquim, otro de los hijos de Josías, para que reinara en lugar de su padre y le cambió el nombre a Joacim. Joacaz fue llevado a Egipto como prisionero, y allí murió.

35 Para obtener la plata y el oro que el faraón Necao exigía como tributo, Joacim recaudaba un impuesto de los habitantes de Judá, para el cual les pedía que pagaran en proporción a sus riquezas.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 KINGS 23

This chapter treats of Josiah's reading the book of the law, and of him and the people renewing the covenant with God, 2Ki 23:1-3, and of his removing idols and idolatry in every shape, and witchcraft, out of the land, which he did in the sincerity of his heart, 2Ki 23:4-25, yet the wrath of God was still determined upon the land, 2Ki 23:26-28 and Josiah was taken away by an untimely death, 2Ki 23:29,30 and was succeeded by two sons of his, one after another, whose reigns were wicked, 2Ki 23:31-37.
