GNT

WEB

1 They took the Covenant Box to the tent which David had prepared for it and put it inside. Then they offered sacrifices and fellowship offerings to God.
1 They brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt offerings and peace-offerings before God.
2 After David had finished offering the sacrifices, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord
2 When David had made an end of offering the burnt offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.
3 and distributed food to them all. He gave each man and woman in Israel a loaf of bread, a piece of roasted meat, and some raisins.
3 He dealt to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a portion [of flesh], and a cake of raisins.
4 David appointed some of the Levites to lead the worship of the Lord, the God of Israel, in front of the Covenant Box, by singing and praising him.
4 He appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of Yahweh, and to celebrate and to thank and praise Yahweh, the God of Israel:
5 Asaph was appointed leader, with Zechariah as his assistant. Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed Edom, and Jeiel were to play harps. Asaph was to sound the cymbals,
5 Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;
6 and two priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, were to blow trumpets regularly in front of the Covenant Box.
6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 It was then that David first gave Asaph and the other Levites the responsibility for singing praises to the Lord.
7 Then on that day David first ordained to give thanks to Yahweh, by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.
8 Give thanks to the Lord, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done.
8 Oh give thanks to Yahweh, call on his name; Make known his doings among the peoples.
9 Sing praise to the Lord; tell the wonderful things he has done.
9 Sing to him, sing praises to him; Talk you of all his marvelous works.
10 Be glad that we belong to him; let all who worship him rejoice!
10 Glory you in his holy name; Let the heart of them rejoice who seek Yahweh.
11 Go to the Lord for help, and worship him continually.
11 Seek you Yahweh and his strength; Seek his face forever more.
12 You descendants of Jacob, God's servant, descendants of Israel, whom God chose, remember the miracles that God performed and the judgments that he gave.
12 Remember his marvelous works that he has done, His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,
14 The Lord is our God; his commands are for all the world.
14 He is Yahweh our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
15 Never forget God's covenant, which he made to last forever,
15 Remember his covenant forever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations,
16 the covenant he made with Abraham, the promise he made to Isaac.
16 [The covenant] which he made with Abraham, His oath to Isaac,
17 The Lord made a covenant with Jacob, one that will last forever.
17 Confirmed the same to Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 "I will give you the land of Canaan," he said. "It will be your own possession."
18 Saying, To you will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance;
19 God's people were few in number, strangers in the land of Canaan.
19 When you were but a few men in number, Yes, very few, and sojourners in it;
20 They wandered from country to country, from one kingdom to another.
20 They went about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people.
21 But God let no one oppress them; to protect them, he warned the kings:
21 He allowed no man to do them wrong; Yes, he reproved kings for their sakes,
22 "Don't harm my chosen servants; do not touch my prophets."
22 [Saying], Don't touch my anointed ones, Do my prophets no harm.
23 Sing to the Lord, all the world! Proclaim every day the good news that he has saved us.
23 Sing to Yahweh, all the earth; Show forth his salvation from day to day.
24 Proclaim his glory to the nations, his mighty deeds to all peoples.
24 Declare his glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples.
25 The Lord is great and is to be highly praised; he is to be honored more than all the gods.
25 For great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised: He also is to be feared above all gods.
26 The gods of all other nations are only idols, but the Lord created the heavens.
26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols: But Yahweh made the heavens.
27 Glory and majesty surround him, power and joy fill his Temple.
27 Honor and majesty are before him: Strength and gladness are in his place.
28 Praise the Lord, all people on earth, praise his glory and might.
28 Ascribe to Yahweh, you relatives of the peoples, Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength;
29 Praise the Lord's glorious name; bring an offering and come into his Temple. Bow down before the Holy One when he appears;
29 Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name: Bring an offering, and come before him: Worship Yahweh in holy array.
30 tremble before him, all the earth! The earth is set firmly in place and cannot be moved.
30 Tremble before him, all the earth: The world also is established that it can't be moved.
31 Be glad, earth and sky! Tell the nations that the Lord is king.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let them say among the nations, Yahweh reigns.
32 Roar, sea, and every creature in you; be glad, fields, and everything in you!
32 Let the sea roar, and the fullness of it; Let the field exult, and all that is therein;
33 The trees in the woods will shout for joy when the Lord comes to rule the earth.
33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy before Yahweh; For he comes to judge the earth.
34 Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good; his love is eternal.
34 Oh give thanks to Yahweh; for he is good; For his lovingkindness endures forever.
35 Say to him, "Save us, O God our Savior; gather us together; rescue us from the nations, so that we may be thankful and praise your holy name."
35 Say you, Save us, God of our salvation, Gather us together and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks to your holy name, To triumph in your praise.
36 Praise the Lord, the God of Israel! Praise him now and forever! Then all the people said, "Amen," and praised the Lord.
36 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, From everlasting even to everlasting. All the people said, Amen, and praised Yahweh.
37 King David put Asaph and the other Levites in permanent charge of the worship that was held at the place where the Covenant Box was kept. They were to perform their duties there day by day.
37 So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, Asaph and his brothers, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required;
38 Obed Edom son of Jeduthun and sixty-eight men of his clan were to assist them. Hosah and Obed Edom were in charge of guarding the gates.
38 and Obed-edom with their brothers, sixty-eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be doorkeepers;
39 Zadok the priest and his fellow priests, however, were in charge of the worship of the Lord at the place of worship in Gibeon.
39 and Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, before the tent of Yahweh in the high place that was at Gibeon,
40 Every morning and evening they were to burn sacrifices whole on the altar in accordance with what was written in the Law which the Lord gave to Israel.
40 to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the law of Yahweh, which he commanded to Israel;
41 There with them were Heman and Jeduthun and the others who were specifically chosen to sing praises to the Lord for his eternal love.
41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Yahweh, because his lovingkindness endures forever;
42 Heman and Jeduthun also had charge of the trumpets and cymbals and the other instruments which were played when the songs of praise were sung. The members of Jeduthun's clan were in charge of guarding the gates.
42 and with them Heman and Jeduthun [with] trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and [with] instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.
43 Then everyone went home, and David went home to spend some time with his family.
43 All the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.
