The Bible in Basic English BBE
1 Now, in regard to the collection being made for God's people: you are to do the same as I directed the congregations in Galatia to do.
1
Now about the giving of money for the saints, as I gave orders to the churches of Galatia, so do you.
2 Every week, on Motza'ei-Shabbat, each of you should set some money aside, according to his resources, and save it up; so that when I come I won't have to do fundraising.
2
On the first day of the week, let every one of you put by him in store, in measure as he has done well in business, so that it may not be necessary to get money together when I come.
3 And when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the people you have approved, and I will send them to carry your gift to Yerushalayim.
3
And when I come, I will send the men of your selection with letters to take the money you have got together to Jerusalem.
4 If it seems appropriate that I go too, they will go along with me.
4
And if it is possible for me to go there, they will go with me.
5 I will visit you after I have gone through Macedonia, for I am intending to pass through Macedonia,
5
But I will come to you after I have gone through Macedonia, for that is my purpose;
6 and I may stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may help me continue my travels wherever I may go.
6
But I may be with you for a time, or even for the winter, so that you may see me on my way, wherever I go.
7 For I don't want to see you now, when I am only passing through; because I am hoping to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows it.
7
For it is not my desire to see you now, on my way; because it is my hope to be with you for some time, if that is the Lord's pleasure.
8 But I will remain in Ephesus until Shavu'ot,
8
But I will be at Ephesus till Pentecost;
9 because a great and important door has opened for my work, and there are many people opposing me.
9
For a great and important door there is open to me, and there are a number of people against me.
10 If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to be afraid of while he is with you; for he is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.
10
Now if Timothy comes, see that he is with you without fear; because he is doing the Lord's work, even as I am:
11 So let no one treat him with disrespect. Help him on his way in peace, so that he will return to me, for the brothers and I are expecting him.
11
See then that he has the honour which is right. But send him on his way in peace, so that he may come to me: for I am looking for him with the brothers.
12 As for brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to go and visit you along with the other brothers; and although it was not at all his desire to come at this time, he will come when he has the opportunity.
12
But as for Apollos, the brother, I had a great desire for him to come to you with the brothers, but it was not his pleasure to come now; but he will come when he has a chance.
13 Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, behave like a mentsh, grow strong.
13
Be on the watch, unmoved in the faith, and be strong like men.
14 Let everything you do be done in love.
14
Let all you do be done in love.
15 Now, brothers, you know that the household of Stephanas were the first people in Achaia to put their trust in the Messiah, and they have devoted themselves to serving God's people.
15
Now I make my request to you, my brothers, for you have knowledge that the house of Stephanas is the first-fruits of Achaia, and that they have made themselves the servants of the saints,
16 I urge you to submit yourselves to people like these and to everyone who works and toils with them.
16
That you put yourselves under such, and under everyone who is helping the Lord's work.
17 I am glad that Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus are here, because they have helped make up for your not being here.
17
And I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for they have done what was needed to make your work complete.
18 They have refreshed my spirit, just as they have yours. I want you to show appreciation for people like these.
18
For they gave comfort to my spirit and to yours: for which cause give respect to such people.
19 The congregations in the province of Asia send greetings to you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you in union with the Lord, as does the congregation that meets in their house.
19
The churches of Asia send their love to you. So do Aquila and Prisca, with the church which is in their house.
20 All the brothers send you their greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
20
All the brothers send their love to you. Give one another a holy kiss.
21 Now, I Sha'ul, greet you in my own handwriting.
21
I, Paul, send you these words of love in my writing.
22 If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse on him! Marana, ta! [Our Lord, come!]
22
If any man has not love for the Lord, let him be cursed. Maran atha (our Lord comes).
23 May the grace of the Lord Yeshua be with you.
23
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
24 My love is with you all, in union with the Messiah Yeshua.
24
My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. So be it.
