1 Corinthians 13

RHE 1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. NIV 1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. RHE 2 And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. NIV 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. RHE 3 And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. NIV 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. RHE 4 Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up, NIV 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. RHE 5 Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil: NIV 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. RHE 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth: NIV 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. RHE 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. NIV 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. RHE 8 Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void or tongues shall cease or knowledge shall be destroyed. NIV 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. RHE 9 For we know in part: and we prophesy in part. NIV 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, RHE 10 But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. NIV 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. RHE 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child. NIV 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. RHE 12 We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known. NIV 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. RHE 13 And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity. NIV 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
