2 Thessalonians 3:6-13

CEB 6 Brothers and sisters, we command you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to stay away from every brother or sister who lives an undisciplined life that is not in line with the traditions that you received from us. NRS 6 Now we command you, beloved, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from us. CEB 7 You yourselves know how you need to imitate us because we were not undisciplined when we were with you. NRS 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you, CEB 8 We didn't eat anyone's food without paying for it. Instead, we worked night and day with effort and hard work so that we would not impose on you. NRS 8 and we did not eat anyone's bread without paying for it; but with toil and labor we worked night and day, so that we might not burden any of you. CEB 9 We did this to give you an example to imitate, not because we didn't have a right to insist on financial support. NRS 9 This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate. CEB 10 Even when we were with you we were giving you this command: "If anyone doesn't want to work, they shouldn't eat." NRS 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone unwilling to work should not eat. CEB 11 We hear that some of you are living an undisciplined life. They aren't working, but they are meddling in other people's business. NRS 11 For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work. CEB 12 By the Lord Jesus Christ, we command and encourage such people to work quietly and put their own food on the table. NRS 12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. CEB 13 Brothers and sisters, don't get discouraged in doing what is right. NRS 13 Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.
