Colossians 3

CEB 1 Therefore, if you were raised with Christ, look for the things that are above where Christ is sitting at God's right side. NRS 1 So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. CEB 2 Think about the things above and not things on earth. NRS 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, CEB 3 You died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. NRS 3 for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. CEB 4 When Christ, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. NRS 4 When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. CEB 5 So put to death the parts of your life that belong to the earth, such as sexual immorality, moral corruption, lust, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry). NRS 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry). CEB 6 The wrath of God is coming upon disobedient people because of these things. NRS 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient. CEB 7 You used to live this way, when you were alive to these things. NRS 7 These are the ways you also once followed, when you were living that life. CEB 8 But now set aside these things, such as anger, rage, malice, slander, and obscene language. NRS 8 But now you must get rid of all such things—anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth. CEB 9 Don't lie to each other. Take off the old human nature with its practices NRS 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices CEB 10 and put on the new nature, which is renewed in knowledge by conforming to the image of the one who created it. NRS 10 and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator. CEB 11 In this image there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all things and in all people. NRS 11 In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all! CEB 12 Therefore, as God's choice, holy and loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. NRS 12 As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. CEB 13 Be tolerant with each other and, if someone has a complaint against anyone, forgive each other. As the Lord forgave you, so also forgive each other. NRS 13 Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. CEB 14 And over all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. NRS 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. CEB 15 The peace of Christ must control your hearts—a peace into which you were called in one body. And be thankful people. NRS 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. CEB 16 The word of Christ must live in you richly. Teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing to God with gratitude in your hearts. NRS 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. CEB 17 Whatever you do, whether in speech or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God the Father through him. NRS 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. CEB 18 Wives, submit to your husbands in a way that is appropriate in the Lord. NRS 18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. CEB 19 Husbands, love your wives and don't be harsh with them. NRS 19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. CEB 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, because this pleases the Lord. NRS 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is your acceptable duty in the Lord. CEB 21 Parents, don't provoke your children in a way that ends up discouraging them. NRS 21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, or they may lose heart. CEB 22 Slaves, obey your masters on earth in everything. Don't just obey like people pleasers when they are watching. Instead, obey with the single motivation of fearing the Lord. NRS 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only while being watched and in order to please them, but wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord. CEB 23 Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for people. NRS 23 Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, CEB 24 You know that you will receive an inheritance as a reward. You serve the Lord Christ. NRS 24 since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ. CEB 25 But evildoers will receive their reward for their evil actions. There is no discrimination. NRS 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for whatever wrong has been done, and there is no partiality.
