NAS 1 Then Job replied , NIV 1 Then Job replied: NAS 2 "Even today my complaint is rebellion; His hand is heavy despite my groaning. NIV 2 “Even today my complaint is bitter; his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning. NAS 3 "Oh that I knew where I might find Him, That I might come to His seat! NIV 3 If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling! NAS 4 "I would present my case before Him And fill my mouth with arguments NIV 4 I would state my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments. NAS 5 "I would learn the words which He would answer, And perceive what He would say to me. NIV 5 I would find out what he would answer me, and consider what he would say to me. NAS 6 "Would He contend with me by the greatness of His power? No, surely He would pay attention to me. NIV 6 Would he vigorously oppose me? No, he would not press charges against me. NAS 7 "There the upright would reason with Him; And I would be delivered forever from my Judge. NIV 7 There the upright can establish their innocence before him, and there I would be delivered forever from my judge. NAS 8 "Behold, I go forward but He is not there, And backward, but I cannot perceive Him; NIV 8 “But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him. NAS 9 When He acts on the left, I cannot behold Him; He turns on the right, I cannot see Him. NIV 9 When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him. NAS 10 "But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. NIV 10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. NAS 11 "My foot has held fast to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside. NIV 11 My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside. NAS 12 "I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. NIV 12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. NAS 13 "But He is unique and who can turn Him? And what His soul desires, that He does. NIV 13 “But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases. NAS 14 "For He performs what is appointed for me, And many such decrees are with Him NIV 14 He carries out his decree against me, and many such plans he still has in store. NAS 15 "Therefore , I would be dismayed at His presence; When I consider, I am terrified of Him. NIV 15 That is why I am terrified before him; when I think of all this, I fear him. NAS 16 "It is God who has made my heart faint, And the Almighty who has dismayed me, NIV 16 God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me. NAS 17 But I am not silenced by the darkness, Nor deep gloom which covers me. NIV 17 Yet I am not silenced by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.
