Psalm 36

CSB 1 An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: There is no dread of God before his eyes, NIV 1 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:There is no fear of God before their eyes. CSB 2 for in his own eyes he flatters himself [too much] to discover and hate his sin. NIV 2 In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. CSB 3 The words of his mouth are malicious and deceptive; he has stopped acting wisely and doing good. NIV 3 The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. CSB 4 Even on his bed he makes malicious plans. He sets himself on a path that is not good and does not reject evil. NIV 4 Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. CSB 5 Lord, Your faithful love [reaches] to heaven, Your faithfulness to the skies. NIV 5 Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. CSB 6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountain; Your judgments, like the deepest sea. Lord, You preserve man and beast. NIV 6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, LORD, preserve both people and animals. CSB 7 God, Your faithful love is so valuable that people take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. NIV 7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. CSB 8 They are filled from the abundance of Your house; You let them drink from Your refreshing stream, NIV 8 They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. CSB 9 for with You is life's fountain. In Your light we will see light. NIV 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. CSB 10 Spread Your faithful love over those who know You, and Your righteousness over the upright in heart. NIV 10 Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. CSB 11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant come near me or the hand of the wicked drive me away. NIV 11 May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. CSB 12 There the evildoers fall; they have been thrown down and cannot rise. NIV 12 See how the evildoers lie fallen— thrown down, not able to rise!
