1 Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.

Protect me, God, because I take refuge in you.
2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”

I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord. Apart from you, I have nothing good."
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

Now as for the "holy ones" in the land, the "magnificent ones" that I was so happy about;
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.

let their suffering increase because they hurried after a different god. I won't participate in their blood offerings; I won't let their names cross my lips.
5 LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.

You, LORD, are my portion, my cup; you control my destiny.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.

The property lines have fallen beautifully for me; yes, I have a lovely home.
7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

I will bless the LORD who advises me; even at night I am instructed in the depths of my mind.
8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

I always put the LORD in front of me; I will not stumble because he is on my right side.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,

That's why my heart celebrates and my mood is joyous; yes, my whole body will rest in safety
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

because you won't abandon my life to the grave; you won't let your faithful follower see the pit.
11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

You teach me the way of life. In your presence is total celebration. Beautiful things are always in your right hand.
