Good News Translation GNT
World English Bible WEB
1 I wait patiently for God to save me; I depend on him alone.
1
<<For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthan. A Psalm by David.>> My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him.
2 He alone protects and saves me; he is my defender, and I shall never be defeated.
2
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress -- I will never be greatly shaken.
3 How much longer will all of you attack someone who is no stronger than a broken-down fence?
3
How long will you assault a man, Would all of you throw him down, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
4 You only want to bring him down from his place of honor; you take pleasure in lies. You speak words of blessing, but in your heart you curse him.
4
They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
5 I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him.
5
My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my expectation is from him.
6 He alone protects and saves me; he is my defender, and I shall never be defeated.
6
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and honor depend on God; he is my strong protector; he is my shelter.
7
With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in God at all times, my people. Tell him all your troubles, for he is our refuge.
8
Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9 Human beings are all like a puff of breath; great and small alike are worthless. Put them on the scales, and they weigh nothing; they are lighter than a mere breath.
9
Surely men of low degree are just a breath, And men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.
10 Don't put your trust in violence; don't hope to gain anything by robbery; even if your riches increase, don't depend on them.
10
Don't trust in oppression. Don't become vain in robbery. If riches increase, Don't set your heart on them.
11 More than once I have heard God say that power belongs to him
11
God has spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongs to God.
12 and that his love is constant. You yourself, O Lord, reward everyone according to their deeds.
12
Also to you, Lord, belongs lovingkindness, For you reward every man according to his work.
