New Living Translation NLT
Common English Bible CEB
1 We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds.
1
We give thanks to you, God. Yes, we give thanks! Your name is near. Your marvelous deeds are declared.
2 God says, “At the time I have planned, I will bring justice against the wicked.
2
God says,"When I decide the time is right, I will establish justice just so.
3 When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. Interlude
3
The earth and all its inhabitants will melt, but I will keep its pillars steady." Selah
4 “I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’ I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise your fists!
4
I said to the arrogant, "Don't be arrogant!" To the wicked I said, "Don't exalt your strength!
5 Don’t raise your fists in defiance at the heavens or speak with such arrogance.’”
5
Don't exalt your strength so highly. Don't speak so arrogantly against the rock."
6 For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist.
6
Because what exalts someone doesn't come from the east or west; it's not from the south either.
7 It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.
7
Rather it is God who is the judge. He brings this person down, but that person he lifts up.
8 For the LORD holds a cup in his hand that is full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours out the wine in judgment, and all the wicked must drink it, draining it to the dregs.
8
Indeed, there's a cup in the LORD's hand full of foaming wine, mixed with spice. He will pour it out, and all of the earth's wicked people must drink it; they must drink every last drop!
9 But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
9
But I will rejoice always; I will sing praises to Jacob's God!
10 For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.”
10
God says: "I will demolish every bit of the wicked's power, but the strength of the righteous will be lifted up."
