He will not shout or cry out,1 or raise his voice in the streets.
A bruised reed2 he will not break,3 and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.4 In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;54
he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice6 on earth. In his law7 the islands8 will put their hope."95
This is what God the LORD says-- he who created the heavens10 and stretched them out, who spread out the earth11 and all that comes out of it,12 who gives breath13 to its people, and life to those who walk on it:
"I, the LORD, have called14 you in righteousness;15 I will take hold of your hand.16 I will keep17 you and will make you to be a covenant18 for the people and a light19 for the Gentiles,207
to open eyes that are blind,21 to free22 captives from prison23 and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.248
"I am the LORD;25 that is my name!26 I will not give my glory to another27 or my praise to idols.289
See, the former things29 have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce30 them to you."
Sing31 to the LORD a new song,32 his praise33 from the ends of the earth,34 you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,35 you islands,36 and all who live in them.
Let the desert37 and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar38 lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela39 sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops.4012
Let them give glory41 to the LORD and proclaim his praise42 in the islands.43
