Isaiah 42:4-14 (New International Version)

4 he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice1 on earth. In his law2 the islands3 will put their hope."4 5 This is what God the LORD says-- he who created the heavens5 and stretched them out, who spread out the earth6 and all that comes out of it,7 who gives breath8 to its people, and life to those who walk on it: 6 "I, the LORD, have called9 you in righteousness;10 I will take hold of your hand.11 I will keep12 you and will make you to be a covenant13 for the people and a light14 for the Gentiles,15 7 to open eyes that are blind,16 to free17 captives from prison18 and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.19 8 "I am the LORD;20 that is my name!21 I will not give my glory to another22 or my praise to idols.23 9 See, the former things24 have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce25 them to you."

10 Sing26 to the LORD a new song,27 his praise28 from the ends of the earth,29 you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,30 you islands,31 and all who live in them. 11 Let the desert32 and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar33 lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela34 sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops.35 12 Let them give glory36 to the LORD and proclaim his praise37 in the islands.38 13 The LORD will march out like a mighty39 man, like a warrior40 he will stir up his zeal;41 with a shout42 he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.43 14 "For a long time I have kept silent,44 I have been quiet and held myself back.45 But now, like a woman in childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant.46
