1And it came to pass , whenJesus had finishedallthesesayings, he said unto hisdisciples,2Ye knowthataftertwodaysis the feast of the passover,and the Son of man is betrayedto be crucified .3Then assembled together the chief priests,and the scribes,and the elders of the people,unto the palace of the high priest,who was calledCaiaphas,4Andconsultedthat they might takeJesus by subtilty,andkill him.
5But they said , Noton the feast day, lest there be an uproaramong the people.6Now when JesuswasinBethany,in the house of Simon the leper,7
There came unto him a womanhaving an alabaster box of very preciousointment,and poured itonhishead, as he sat at meat.
8But when hisdisciplessaw it, they had indignation , saying , To what purpose is thiswaste?9Forthisointmentmight have been sold for much,andgiven to the poor.10WhenJesusunderstood it, he said unto them,Why trouble ye the woman?for she hath wrought a goodworkuponme.11For ye have the pooralwayswithyou;butme ye havenotalways.12For in thatshe hath pouredthisointmentonmybody, she did it formyburial .13Verily I say unto you,Wheresoeverthisgospel shall be preachedin the wholeworld, there shall also this, that this woman hath done , be toldfor a memorial of her.14Thenone of the twelve,calledJudasIscariot,wentunto the chief priests,15
And said unto them, What will yegiveme,and I will deliverhim unto you?And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.16Andfrom that time he soughtopportunitytobetrayhim.17Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciplescame to Jesus,saying unto him,Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?18And he said , Gointo the cityto such a man,andsay unto him, The Mastersaith , Mytimeis at hand; I will keep the passoverat thy housewithmydisciples.19And the disciplesdidasJesus had appointedthem;and they made ready the passover.20Now when the even was come , he sat downwith the twelve.21And as they did eat , he said , Verily I say unto you,thatoneofyou shall betrayme.22And they were exceedingsorrowful , and began every one of them to say unto him,Lord,isitI?23And he answered and said , He that dippeth his handwithmein the dish, the same shall betrayme.24TheSon of mangoethas it is writtenofhim:butwoe unto thatmanbywhom the Son of man is betrayed ! it had beengood for thatmanifhehadnot been born .25ThenJudas,whichbetrayedhim,answered and said , Master,isitI? He said unto him,Thou hast said .26And as they were eating , Jesustookbread,andblessed it, and brake it, andgave it to the disciples,andsaid , Take , eat ; thisismybody.27And he took the cup,and gave thanks , and gave it to them,saying , Drink yeallofit;28Forthisismyblood of the newtestament,which is shedformanyfor the remission of sins.29But I say unto you, I willnotdrinkhenceforthofthisfruit of the vine,untilthatdaywhen I drinkitnewwithyouinmyFather'skingdom.30And when they had sung an hymn ,a they went outinto the mount of Olives.31ThensaithJesus unto them,Allye shall be offendedbecause of methisnight:for it is written , I will smite the shepherd,and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad .32ButafterI am risen again , I will go beforeyouintoGalilee.33Peteransweredandsaid unto him,Thoughall men shall be offendedbbecause of thee, yet will Inever be offended .
34Jesussaid unto him,Verily I say unto thee,Thatthisnight,before the cockcrow , thou shalt denymethrice.35Petersaid unto him,ThoughIshoulddiewiththee,yet will Inotdenythee.Likewisealsosaidall the disciples.36ThencomethJesuswiththemunto a placecalledGethsemane,andsaith unto the disciples,Sit yehere,whileIgo and prayyonder.37And he took with himPeterand the twosons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowfuland very heavy .
38Then saith he unto them,Mysoulis exceeding sorrowful, even untodeath: tarry yehere,andwatchwithme.39And he went a littlefurther , and fellonhisface,andprayed , saying , O myFather,if it bepossible,letthiscuppassfromme:neverthelessnotasIwill , butasthou wilt.40And he comethunto the disciples,andfindeththemasleep , andsaith unto Peter,What, could yenotwatchwithmeonehour?41Watchandpray , that ye enternotintotemptation: the spiritindeed is willing,but the flesh is weak.42
He went awayagainthe second time, and prayed , saying , O myFather,ifthiscupmaynot pass awayfromme,except I drinkit,thywill be done .43And he came and foundthemasleepagain:fortheireyeswereheavy .
44And he leftthem, and went awayagain, and prayed the third time,saying the samewords.45Then cometh hetohisdisciples,andsaith unto them,Sleep onnow,and take your rest : behold , the hour is at hand , and the Son of man is betrayedinto the hands of sinners.46Rise , let us be going : behold , he is at hand that doth betrayme.47Andwhileheyetspake , lo , Judas,one of the twelve,came , andwithhim a greatmultitudewithswordsandstaves,from the chief priestsandelders of the people.48Now he that betrayedhimgavethem a sign,saying , WhomsoeverI shall kiss , that sameishe:holdhimfast .
49Andforthwith he came to Jesus, and said , Hail , master;andkissedhim.50AndJesussaid unto him,Friend,whereforeart thou come ?Then came they , and laidhandsonJesus,andtookhim.51And,behold , one of them which were withJesus stretched out his hand, and drewhissword,andstruck a servant of the high priest's, and smote offhisear.52ThensaidJesus unto him,Put up againthyswordintohisplace:for all they that take the sword shall perishwith the sword.53Thinkestthouthat I cannotnowpray to myFather,and he shall presently givememorethantwelvelegions of angels?54But howthen shall the scriptures be fulfilled , thatthus it mustbe ?55In that samehoursaidJesus to the multitudes,Are ye come outasagainst a thiefwithswordsandstaves for to takeme? I satdailywithyouteachingin the temple,and ye laidnohold on me.56Butallthis was done , that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled . Thenall the disciplesforsookhim, and fled .57And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him awaytoCaiaphas the high priest,where the scribesand the elders were assembled .
58ButPeterfollowedhim afar offunto the high priest'spalace,andwentin, and satwith the servants, to see the end.59Now the chief priests,andelders,andall the council,sought false witnessagainstJesus,toputhim to death ;
60Butfoundnone:yea, though many false witnessescame , yet found theynone . At the lastcametwo false witnesses,61
And said , This fellow said , I am able to destroy the temple of God,and to builditinthreedays.62And the high priestarose , and said unto him, Answerest thounothing?what is it which these witness againstthee?63ButJesus held his peace . And the high priestanswered and said unto him, I adjuretheeby the livingGod,that thou telluswhetherthoube the Christ, the Son of God.64Jesussaith unto him,Thou hast said : nevertheless I say unto you,Hereaftershall ye see the Son of mansittingon the right hand of power,andcomingin the clouds of heaven.65Then the high priestrenthisclothes,saying , He hath spoken blasphemy ; whatfurtherneed have we of witnesses?behold,now ye have heardhisblasphemy.66Whatthinkye? They answeredandsaid , He isguilty of death.67Then did they spitinhisface,andbuffetedhim;and others smote him with the palms of their hands ,
68Saying , Prophesy unto us, thou Christ,Who is he that smotethee?69NowPetersatwithoutin the palace:andadamselcame unto him,saying , ThoualsowastwithJesus of Galilee.70But he deniedbefore them all,saying , I knownotwhat thou sayest .
71And when he was gone outinto the porch,another maid sawhim,andsaid unto them that were there,This fellow wasalsowithJesus of Nazareth.72Andagain he deniedwith an oath , I donotknow the man.73Andafter a while came unto him they that stood by , and said to Peter,Surelythoualsoart one ofthem;forthyspeechbewrayeththee .
74Then began he to curseand to swear , saying, I knownot the man.Andimmediately the cockcrew .
