John7testifiedabout Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, '8He who comesafter me [c]has a higherrank than I, 9for He existedbefore me.' "

For of His 10fullness[d]we have allreceived, and [e]grace upon grace.

For 11the Law was giventhroughMoses; 12grace and 13truth[f]were realizedthroughJesusChrist.

14Noone has seenGod at anytime; 15the onlybegottenGod who is 16in the bosom of the Father, 17He has explained Him.
The Testimony of John
19This is 18the testimony of John, when19the Jewssent to him priests and Levites20from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"

And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, "21I am not [g]the Christ."

They asked him, "Whatthen? Are you 22Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you 23the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."

Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you sayaboutyourself?"

He said, "I am 24A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKESTRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,' as Isaiah the prophetsaid."
