1 Lo que era desde el principio, lo que hemos oído, lo que hemos visto con nuestros ojos, lo que hemos mirado <I>bien</I> , y nuestras manos han tocado de la Palabra de vida;

2 (porque la vida es manifestada; y también lo vimos, y testificamos, y os mostramos aquella la vida eterna, la cual estaba con el Padre, y nos ha aparecido);

3 lo que hemos visto y oído, esto os anunciamos, para que también vosotros tengáis comunión con nosotros; y que nuestra comunión sea con el Padre, y con su Hijo Jesús, el Cristo.

4 Y estas cosas os escribimos, para que vuestro gozo sea cumplido.

5 Y esta es la Promesa que oímos de él, y os la anunciamos: Que Dios es luz, y en él no hay tinieblas.

6 Si nosotros dijéremos que tenemos compañía con él, y andamos en tinieblas, mentimos, y no hacemos verdad;

7 mas si andamos en luz, como él está en luz, tenemos comunión con él, entre nosotros, y la sangre de Jesús, el Cristo, su Hijo nos limpia de todo pecado.

8 Si dijéremos que no tenemos pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos, y no hay verdad en nosotros.

9 Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para que nos perdone nuestros pecados, y nos limpie de toda maldad.

10 Si dijéremos que no hemos pecado, lo hacemos a él mentiroso, y su Palabra no está en nosotros.

New International Version NIV

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

4 We write this to make our joy complete.

5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
