1 And in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam son of Nebat, reigned hath Abijam over Judah;
2 Three years reigned he in Yerushalayim: and his mother's name was Ma`akhah the daughter of Avishalom.
2 three years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom;
3 He walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
3 and he walketh in all the sins of his father, that he did before him, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father;
4 Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Yerushalayim, to set up his son after him, and to establish Yerushalayim;
4 but for David's sake hath Jehovah his God given to him a lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem,
5 because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and didn't turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except only in the matter of Uriyah the Hittite.
5 in that David did that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from all that He commanded him all days of his life -- only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite;
6 Now there was war between Rechav`am and Yarov`am all the days of his life.
6 and war hath been between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
7 The rest of the acts of Aviyam, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah? There was war between Aviyam and Yarov`am.
7 And the rest of the matters of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? And war hath been between Abijam and Jeroboam;
8 Aviyam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his place.
8 and Abijam lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Asa his son in his stead.
9 In the twentieth year of Yarov`am king of Yisra'el began Asa to reign over Yehudah.
9 And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned hath Asa over Judah,
10 Forty-one years reigned he in Yerushalayim: and his mother's name was Ma`akhah the daughter of Avishalom.
10 and forty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom.
11 Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.
11 And Asa doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father,
12 He put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
12 and removeth the whoremongers out of the land, and turneth aside all the idols that his fathers made;
13 Also Ma`akhah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
13 and also Maachah his mother -- he turneth her aside from being mistress, in that she made a horrible thing for a shrine, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and burneth [it] by the brook Kidron;
14 But the high places were not taken away: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with the LORD all his days.
14 and the high places have not turned aside; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect with Jehovah all his days,
15 He brought into the house of the LORD the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
15 and he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of Jehovah, silver, and gold, and vessels.
16 There was war between Asa and Ba`sha king of Yisra'el all their days.
16 And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days,
17 Ba`sha king of Yisra'el went up against Yehudah, and built Ramah, that he might not allow anyone to go out or come in to Asa king of Yehudah.
17 and Baasha king of Israel goeth up against Judah, and buildeth Ramah, not to permit any one going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.
18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad, the son of Tavrimon, the son of Hezyon, king of Aram, who lived at Dammesek, saying,
18 And Asa taketh all the silver and the gold that are left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, and giveth them into the hand of his servants, and king Asa sendeth them unto Ben-Hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,
19 [There is] a league between me and you, between my father and your father: behold, I have sent to you a present of silver and gold; go, break your league with Ba`sha king of Yisra'el, that he may depart from me.
19 `A covenant [is] between me and thee, between my father and thy father; lo, I have sent to thee a reward of silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goeth up from off me.'
20 Ben-Hadad listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Yisra'el, and struck `Iyon, and Dan, and Avel-Beit-Ma`akhah, and all Kinnarot, with all the land of Naftali.
20 And Ben-Hadad hearkeneth unto king Asa, and sendeth the heads of the forces that he hath against cities of Israel, and smiteth Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali;
21 It happened, when Ba`sha heard of it, that he left off building Ramah, and lived in Tirtzah.
21 and it cometh to pass at Baasha's hearing, that he ceaseth from building Ramah, and dwelleth in Tirzah.
22 Then king Asa made a proclamation to all Yehudah; none was exempted: and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber of it, with which Ba`sha had built; and king Asa built therewith Geva of Binyamin, and Mitzpah.
22 And king Asa hath summoned all Judah -- there is none exempt -- and they lift up the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha hath built, and king Asa buildeth with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
23 Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
23 And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? Only, at the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet;
24 Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Yehoshafat his son reigned in his place.
24 and Asa lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead.

26 He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin with which he made Yisra'el to sin.
26 and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth in the way of his father, and in his sin that he made Israel to sin.
27 Ba`sha the son of Achiyah, of the house of Yissakhar, conspired against him; and Ba`sha struck him at Gibbeton, which belonged to the Pelishtim; for Nadav and all Yisra'el were laying siege to Gibbeton.
27 And conspire against him doth Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, and Baasha smiteth him in Gibbethon, which [is] to the Philistines -- and Nadab and all Israel are laying siege against Gibbethon --
28 Even in the third year of Asa king of Yehudah did Ba`sha kill him, and reigned in his place.
28 yea, Baasha putteth him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead.
29 It happened that, as soon as he was king, he struck all the house of Yarov`am: he didn't leave to Yarov`am any who breathed, until he had destroyed him; according to the saying of the LORD, which he spoke by his servant Achiyah the Shiloni;
29 And it cometh to pass, at his reigning, he hath smitten the whole house of Jeroboam, he hath not left any breathing to Jeroboam till his destroying him, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,
30 for the sins of Yarov`am which he sinned, and with which he made Yisra'el to sin, because of his provocation with which he provoked the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, to anger.
30 because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin, by his provocation with which he provoked to anger Jehovah, God of Israel.
31 Now the rest of the acts of Nadav, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?
31 And the rest of the matters of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Baasha son of Ahijah over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years,
34 He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Yarov`am, and in his sin with which he made Yisra'el to sin.
34 and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin.
