Psalm 105

CEB 1 Give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make his deeds known to all people! NRS 1 O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples. CEB 2 Sing to God; sing praises to the Lord; dwell on all his wondrous works! NRS 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderful works. CEB 3 Give praise to God's holy name! Let the hearts rejoice of all those seeking the LORD! NRS 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. CEB 4 Pursue the LORD and his strength; seek his face always! NRS 4 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually. CEB 5 Remember the wondrous works he has done, all his marvelous works, and the justice he declared— NRS 5 Remember the wonderful works he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he has uttered, CEB 6 you who are the offspring of Abraham, his servant, and the children of Jacob, his chosen ones. NRS 6 O offspring of his servant Abraham, children of Jacob, his chosen ones. CEB 7 The LORD—he is our God. His justice is everywhere throughout the whole world. CEB 8 God remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded to a thousand generations, NRS 8 He is mindful of his covenant forever, of the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, CEB 9 which he made with Abraham, the solemn pledge he swore to Isaac. NRS 9 the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, CEB 10 God set it up as binding law for Jacob, as an eternal covenant for Israel, NRS 10 which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, CEB 11 promising, "I hereby give you the land of Canaan as your allotted inheritance." NRS 11 saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance." CEB 12 When they were few in number— insignificant, just immigrants— NRS 12 When they were few in number, of little account, and strangers in it, CEB 13 wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to the next, NRS 13 wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, CEB 14 God didn't let anyone oppress them. God punished kings for their sake: NRS 14 he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, CEB 15 "Don't touch my anointed ones; don't harm my prophets!" NRS 15 saying, "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." CEB 16 When God called for a famine in the land, destroying every source of food, NRS 16 When he summoned famine against the land, and broke every staff of bread, CEB 17 he sent a man ahead of them, who was sold as a slave: it was Joseph. NRS 17 he had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. CEB 18 Joseph's feet hurt in his shackles; his neck was in an iron collar, NRS 18 His feet were hurt with fetters, his neck was put in a collar of iron; CEB 19 until what he predicted actually happened, until what the LORD had said proved him true. NRS 19 until what he had said came to pass, the word of the Lord kept testing him. CEB 20 The king sent for Joseph and set him free; the ruler of many people released him. NRS 20 The king sent and released him; the ruler of the peoples set him free. CEB 21 The king made Joseph master of his house and ruler over everything he owned, NRS 21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions, CEB 22 to make sure his princes acted according to his will, and to teach wisdom to his advisors. NRS 22 to instruct his officials at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom. CEB 23 That's how Israel came to Egypt, how Jacob became an immigrant in the land of Ham. NRS 23 Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham. CEB 24 God made his people very fruitful, more powerful than their enemies, NRS 24 And the Lord made his people very fruitful, and made them stronger than their foes, CEB 25 whose hearts God changed so they hated his people and dealt shrewdly with his servants. NRS 25 whose hearts he then turned to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants. CEB 26 God sent Moses his servant and the one he chose, Aaron. NRS 26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron whom he had chosen. CEB 27 They put God's signs on Egypt, his marvelous works on the land of Ham. NRS 27 They performed his signs among them, and miracles in the land of Ham. CEB 28 God sent darkness, and it became dark, but the Egyptians rejected his word. NRS 28 He sent darkness, and made the land dark; they rebelled against his words. CEB 29 God turned their waters into blood and killed their fish. NRS 29 He turned their waters into blood, and caused their fish to die. CEB 30 God made their land swarm with frogs— even in the bedrooms of their king! NRS 30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings. CEB 31 God spoke, and the insects came— gnats throughout their whole country! NRS 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. CEB 32 God turned their rain into hail along with lightning flashes throughout their land. NRS 32 He gave them hail for rain, and lightning that flashed through their land. CEB 33 God destroyed their vines and their fig trees; shattered the trees of their countryside. NRS 33 He struck their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country. CEB 34 God spoke, and the locusts came— countless grasshoppers came! NRS 34 He spoke, and the locusts came, and young locusts without number; CEB 35 They devoured all the plants in their land; they devoured the fruit of their soil. NRS 35 they devoured all the vegetation in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground. CEB 36 God struck down all the oldest sons throughout their land; struck down their very pride and joy. NRS 36 He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the first issue of all their strength. CEB 37 Then God brought Israel out, filled with silver and gold; not one of its tribes stumbled. NRS 37 Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold, and there was no one among their tribes who stumbled. CEB 38 Egypt celebrated when they left, because the dread of Israel had come upon them. NRS 38 Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it. CEB 39 God spread out clouds as a covering; gave lightning to provide light at night. NRS 39 He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night. CEB 40 The people asked, and God brought quail; God filled them full with food from heaven. NRS 40 They asked, and he brought quails, and gave them food from heaven in abundance. CEB 41 God opened the rock and out gushed water— flowing like a river through the desert! NRS 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river. CEB 42 Because God remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant, NRS 42 For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham, his servant. CEB 43 God brought his people out with rejoicing, his chosen ones with songs of joy. NRS 43 So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing. CEB 44 God gave them the lands of other nations; they inherited the wealth of many peoples— NRS 44 He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the wealth of the peoples, CEB 45 all so that they would keep his laws and observe his instructions. Praise the LORD! NRS 45 that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the Lord!
