Psalm 36

CEB 1 I know the sinful utterance of the wicked: No fear of God confronts their own eyes, NRS 1 Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts; there is no fear of God before their eyes. CEB 2 because in their own eyes they are slick with talk about their guilt ever being found out and despised. NRS 2 For they flatter themselves in their own eyes that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated. CEB 3 The words of their mouths are evil and dishonest. They have stopped being wise and stopped doing good. NRS 3 The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit; they have ceased to act wisely and do good. CEB 4 They plot evil even while resting in bed! They commit themselves to a path that is no good. They don't reject what is evil. NRS 4 They plot mischief while on their beds; they are set on a way that is not good; they do not reject evil. CEB 5 But your loyal love, LORD, extends to the skies; your faithfulness reaches the clouds. NRS 5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. CEB 6 Your righteousness is like the strongest mountains; your justice is like the deepest sea. LORD, you save both humans and animals. NRS 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your judgments are like the great deep; you save humans and animals alike, O Lord. CEB 7 Your faithful love is priceless, God! Humanity finds refuge in the shadow of your wings. NRS 7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God! All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings. CEB 8 They feast on the bounty of your house; you let them drink from your river of pure joy. NRS 8 They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. CEB 9 Within you is the spring of life. In your light, we see light. NRS 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. CEB 10 Extend your faithful love to those who know you; extend your righteousness to those whose heart is right. NRS 10 O continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your salvation to the upright of heart! CEB 11 Don't let the feet of arrogant people walk all over me; don't let the hands of the wicked drive me off. NRS 11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant tread on me, or the hand of the wicked drive me away. CEB 12 Look—right there is where the evildoers have fallen, pushed down, unable to get up! NRS 12 There the evildoers lie prostrate; they are thrust down, unable to rise.
