Psalm 29

DBY 1 {A Psalm of David.} Give unto Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty ones, give unto Jehovah glory and strength; NIV 1 Ascribe to the LORD, O mighty ones, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. DBY 2 Give unto Jehovah the glory of his name; worship Jehovah in holy splendour. NIV 2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. DBY 3 The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth, -- Jehovah upon great waters. NIV 3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. DBY 4 The voice of Jehovah is powerful; the voice of Jehovah is full of majesty. NIV 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. DBY 5 The voice of Jehovah breaketh cedars; yea, Jehovah breaketh the cedars of Lebanon: NIV 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. DBY 6 And he maketh them to skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young buffalo. NIV 6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. DBY 7 The voice of Jehovah cleaveth out flames of fire. NIV 7 The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. DBY 8 The voice of Jehovah shaketh the wilderness; Jehovah shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. NIV 8 The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh. DBY 9 The voice of Jehovah maketh the hinds to calve, and layeth bare the forests; and in his temple doth every one say, Glory! NIV 9 The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, "Glory!" DBY 10 Jehovah sitteth upon the flood; yea, Jehovah sitteth as king for ever. NIV 10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. DBY 11 Jehovah will give strength unto his people; Jehovah will bless his people with peace. NIV 11 The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.
