Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm,1
to water2 a land where no man lives, a desert with no one in it,3
to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass?4
Does the rain have a father?5 Who fathers the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens6
when the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen?7
"Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion?8
Can you bring forth the constellations9 in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs?10
Do you know the laws11 of the heavens?12 Can you set up [God's] dominion over the earth?
"Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water?13
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?14 Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?
Who endowed the heart with wisdom15 or gave understanding16 to the mind ?
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who can tip over the water jars17 of the heavens18
when the dust becomes hard19 and the clods of earth stick together?20
"Do you hunt the prey for the lioness and satisfy the hunger of the lions21
when they crouch in their dens22 or lie in wait in a thicket?23
Who provides food24 for the raven25 when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?26
