19 Foi, pois, Bate-Seba ter com o rei Salomão, para falar-lhe por Adonias. E o rei se levantou a encontrar-se com ela, e se inclinou diante dela; então, assentando-se no seu trono, mandou que pusessem um trono para a rainha-mãe; e ela se assentou � sua direita.
20 Então disse ela: Só uma pequena coisa te peço; não ma recuses. Respondeu-lhe o rei: Pede, minha mãe, porque não ta recusarei.
21 E ela disse: Dê-se Abisague, a sunamita, por mulher a teu irmão Adonias.
22 Então respondeu o rei Salomão, e disse a sua mãe: E por que pedes Abisague, a sunamita, para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino (porque é meu irmão mais velho); sim, para ele, e também para Abiatar, o sacerdote, e para Joabe, filho de Zeruia.
23 E jurou o rei Salomão pelo Senhor, dizendo: Assim Deus me faça, e outro tanto, se não falou Adonias esta palavra contra a sua vida.
24 Agora, pois, vive o Senhor, que me confirmou e me fez assentar no trono de Davi, meu pai, e que me estabeleceu casa, como tinha dito, que hoje será morto Adonias.
25 E o rei Salomão deu ordem a Benaías, filho de Jeoiada, o qual feriu a Adonias, de modo que morreu.

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST KING 2

This chapter gives an account of the charge David gave to his son Solomon, a little before his death, to walk in the ways of the Lord, 1Ki 2:1-4; and of some instructions delivered to him concerning some particular persons he should either show favour to, or execute justice on, 1Ki 2:5-9; and the next account in it is concerning his death and burial, and the years of his reign, 1Ki 2:10,11; after which it relates an address of Bathsheba to Solomon in favour of Adonijah, which was refused, and the issue of it was his death, 1Ki 2:12-25; and the deposition of Abiathar from the priesthood, 1Ki 2:26,27; and the putting of Joab to death for his treason and murders, 1Ki 2:28-34; in whose post Benaiah was put, as Zadok was in the place of Abiathar, 1Ki 2:35; and lastly the confinement of Shimei in Jerusalem, who had cursed David, 1Ki 2:36-38; who upon transgressing the orders given him was put to death, 1Ki 2:39-46.
