The fear of missing God’s will is enough to paralyze any Christian. But here’s the question: can a Christian miss the will of God for their life? Could you somehow go your entire life being outside of God’s good plan for you? Yes... and no.

When someone is going through the meat grinder we can only know a tiny portion of what they are really experiencing. Our limited ability to know the suffering of others is what makes 2 Corinthians 7:6 so precious.

If we don’t we don’t test our ideas against God’s word and church history we are in danger of letting our theology be shaped by current events and ideas rather than the clear, unshakable Word of God.

There is something about goal setting that gets me fired up and excited. But in the last couple of years I’ve started to notice something about myself: Small goals coupled with faithfulness produce the biggest results.

My propensity toward Christmas gloom is one of the reasons I am so grateful for Jesus. Not in a “Jesus is the reason for the season,” kind of way, but in a, “Jesus is a holy warrior,” kind of way.

I’m beginning to realize that there’s a big difference between simply achieving goals and achieving goals in a manner that pleases God.

The freeness with which I can pray causes me to take prayer for granted. Think for a moment of all that takes place when I pray.

I know in my head that God works all things for good, and that I am supposed to rejoice always. But deep down, I suspect God somehow enjoys seeing me suffer.

Can you lose your salvation? It was a question that haunted me. Tormented me. Sent me into an existential panic. Not only did I struggle to find assurance of salvation, I was also terrified of losing it. And it didn’t help that I grew up in the 90’s evangelical world, where every youth conference contained at least one opportunity to “rededicate” your life to Christ. Music would be playing softly and the speaker would be earnestly pleading with all the “backsliders”, inviting them to be on fire for Jesus again (there was a lot of fire in the 90’s). Tears would be shed, hands would be raised, and kids would stream to the front for prayer (and usually some sort of group hug). To top it all off, there are passages in scripture that seem to indicate that a Christian can lose their salvation. What was I supposed to make of these spiritually terrifying words? Maybe you can relate to this. Or maybe you know someone who struggles like I did. So what does scripture really say? Can a genuine Christian lose their salvation?

The resurrection of Jesus baffled everyone.

When the disciples came to Jesus’ empty tomb, they couldn’t comprehend what they were seeing. They had witnessed him die, saw the spear plunge into his side, heard him cry out, “It is finished!”

And yet they were seeing something…

…that simply didn’t make sense. An empty tomb.

But they couldn’t make heads or tails of the resurrection of Jesus and the vacant grave clothes and the stone that had been tossed aside. They hadn’t expected him to die. They certainly hadn’t expected this.

What did these things mean?
