2 Crónicas 28:5-15

5 Por lo cual el SEÑOR su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los arameos, que lo derrotaron, tomaron de él gran número de cautivos y los llevaron a Damasco. Y también él fue entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo hirió con gran mortandad.

6 Porque Peka, hijo de Remalías, mató en Judá a ciento veinte mil en un día, todos hombres valientes, porque habían abandonado al SEÑOR, Dios de sus padres.

7 Y Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías, hijo del rey, y a Azricam, mayordomo de la casa, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

8 Y los hijos de Israel se llevaron cautivos de sus hermanos a doscientos mil, mujeres, hijos e hijas; y tomaron también mucho botín de ellos y se llevaron el botín a Samaria.

9 Pero había allí un profeta del SEÑOR llamado Oded, y éste salió al encuentro del ejército que venía a Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí, porque el SEÑOR, Dios de vuestros padres, estaba airado con Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos, y los habéis matado con una furia que ha llegado hasta el cielo.

10 Y ahora os proponéis subyugar a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como esclavos y esclavas vuestros. ¿No tenéis ciertamente transgresiones de parte vuestra contra el SEÑOR vuestro Dios?

11 Ahora pues, oídme, y devolved a los cautivos que capturasteis de vuestros hermanos, porque el furor de la ira del SEÑOR está contra vosotros.

12 Entonces algunos de los jefes de los hijos de Efraín: Azarías, hijo de Johanán, Berequías, hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías, hijo de Salum, y Amasa, hijo de Hadlai, se levantaron contra los que venían de la batalla,

13 y les dijeron: No traigáis aquí a los cautivos; porque os proponéis traer sobre nosotros culpa contra el SEÑOR, añadiendo a nuestros pecados y a nuestra culpa; porque nuestra culpa es grande y el furor de su ira está contra Israel.

14 Entonces los hombres armados dejaron los cautivos y el botín delante de los oficiales y de toda la asamblea.

15 Y se levantaron los hombres que habían sido designados por nombre y tomaron a los cautivos, y del botín vistieron a todos los desnudos y les dieron vestidos y sandalias; les dieron de comer y de beber y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los débiles y los llevaron a Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, junto a sus hermanos; entonces volvieron a Samaria.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 CHRONICLES 28

This chapter contains the reign of Ahaz, and gives an account of the idolatry he was guilty of, 2Ch 28:1-4, what calamities came upon him and his people, being delivered up into the hands of the kings of Syria and Israel, who slew many, and carried others captives, 2Ch 28:5-8, though they that were taken captive by Israel, at the admonition of a prophet, were sent back again, 2Ch 28:9-15, how also he was distressed by the Edomites and Philistines, and not helped by the king of Assyria, he sent for and made presents to, 2Ch 28:16-21 and yet went into more and greater idolatries, 2Ch 28:22-25, and the chapter is concluded with his death and burial, 2Ch 28:26,27.

These verses are much the same with 2Ki 16:2-4, only in 2Ch 28:2 it is said,

\\he made also molten images for Baalim\\; the several Baals or idols of the nations round about, as well as served Jeroboam's calves; see Jud 2:11, and he is said in 2Ch 28:3,
