Ezequiel 26

1 Y sucedió que en el undécimo año, el día primero del mes, vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

2 Hijo de hombre, por cuanto Tiro ha dicho acerca de Jerusalén: "¡Ajá!, la puerta de los pueblos está rota, se abrió para mí, me llenaré, ya que ella está asolada",

3 por tanto, así dice el Señor DIOS: "He aquí, estoy contra ti, Tiro, y haré subir contra ti muchas naciones, como el mar hace subir sus olas.

4 "Y destruirán las murallas de Tiro y demolerán sus torres; barreré de ella sus escombros y la haré una roca desnuda.

5 "Será tendedero de redes en medio del mar, porque yo he hablado"declara el Señor DIOS"y ella será despojo para las naciones.

6 "Y sus hijas que están tierra adentro, serán muertas a espada; y sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR."

7 Porque así dice el Señor DIOS: He aquí, traeré por el norte sobre Tiro a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, rey de reyes, con caballos, carros, jinetes y un gran ejército.

8 Matará a espada a tus hijas que están tierra adentro. Edificará contra ti muros de asedio, levantará contra ti un terraplén y alzará contra ti un escudo grande.

9 Y dirigirá el golpe de sus arietes contra tus murallas, y con sus hachas demolerá tus torres.

10 Por la multitud de sus caballos, su polvo te cubrirá; por el estruendo de la caballería, de las carretas y de los carros, se estremecerán tus murallas cuando entre él por tus puertas como se entra en una ciudad en que se ha hecho brecha.

11 Con los cascos de sus caballos hollará todas tus calles, a tu pueblo matará a espada, y tus fuertes columnas caerán por tierra.

12 También saquearán tus riquezas y robarán tus mercancías; demolerán tus murallas y destruirán tus casas suntuosas, y arrojarán al agua tus piedras, tus maderas y tus escombros.

13 Así haré cesar el ruido de tus canciones, y el son de tus arpas no se oirá más.

14 Y haré de ti una roca desnuda; serás un tendedero de redes. No volverás a ser edificada, porque yo, el SEÑOR, he habladodeclara el Señor DIOS.

15 Así dice el Señor DIOS a Tiro: Al estruendo de tu caída, cuando giman los heridos, cuando se haga la matanza en medio de ti, ¿no se estremecerán las costas?

16 Entonces descenderán de sus tronos todos los príncipes del mar, se quitarán sus mantos y se despojarán de sus vestiduras bordadas. Se vestirán de temores, se sentarán en tierra, temblarán a cada momento y se horrorizarán a causa de ti.

17 Elevarán una elegía por ti, y te dirán: "¡Cómo has perecido, habitada de los mares, la ciudad renombrada, que era poderosa en el mar! Ella y sus habitantes, infundían terror a todos sus vecinos.

18 "Ahora tiemblan las costas por el día de tu caída; sí, las costas del mar se espantan de tu fin."

19 Porque así dice el Señor DIOS: Cuando yo te convierta en una ciudad desolada, como las ciudades despobladas; cuando haga subir sobre ti el abismo, y te cubran las grandes aguas,

20 entonces te haré descender con los que descienden a la fosa, con el pueblo de antaño, y te haré habitar en las profundidades de la tierra, como las antiguas ruinas, con los que descienden a la fosa, para que no seas habitada; y pondré gloria en la tierra de los vivientes.

21 Traeré sobre ti terrores, y no existirás más; aunque seas buscada, no serás encontrada jamásdeclara el Señor DIOS.

Chapter 26

A prophecy against Tyre.

Verses 1-14 To be secretly pleased with the death or decay of others, when we are likely to get by it; or with their fall, when we may thrive upon it, is a sin that easily besets us, yet is not thought so bad as really it is. But it comes from a selfish, covetous principle, and from that love of the world as our happiness, which the love of God expressly forbids. He often blasts the projects of those who would raise themselves on the ruin of others. The maxims most current in the trading world, are directly opposed to the law of God. But he will show himself against the money-loving, selfish traders, whose hearts, like those of Tyre, are hardened by the love of riches. Men have little cause to glory in things which stir up the envy and rapacity of others, and which are continually shifting from one to another; and in getting, keeping, and spending which, men provoke that God whose wrath turns joyous cities into ruinous heaps.

Verses 15-21 See how high, how great Tyre had been. See how low Tyre is made. The fall of others should awaken us out of security. Every discovery of the fulfilment of a Scripture prophecy, is like a miracle to confirm our faith. All that is earthly is vanity and vexation. Those who now have the most established prosperity, will soon be out of sight and forgotten.
