Josué 14:14 Meaning and Commentary

Joshua 14:14

Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of
Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day
The time of the writing of this book:

because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel;
as in ( Joshua 14:8 Joshua 14:9 ) ; Hebron signifies fellowship or communion; and this in a spiritual sense is very desirable by all the people of God, as Hebron was by Caleb, even communion with God, Father, Son and Spirit, with angels and saints, both now and hereafter; and they are willing to engage with their spiritual enemies in the name and strength of Christ, though ever so potent, may they but enjoy this blessing, and which is more or less granted, to all the hearty, sincere, and faithful followers of Christ; see ( John 14:21-23 ) ( 1 John 1:3 1 John 1:7 ) .

Josué 14:14 In-Context

12 Ahora pues, dame esta regi贸n monta帽osa de la cual el SE脩OR habl贸 aquel d铆a, porque t煤 o铆ste aquel d铆a que all铆 hab铆a anaceos con grandes ciudades fortificadas; tal vez el SE脩OR est茅 conmigo y los expulsar茅 como el SE脩OR ha dicho.
OR, Dios de Israel.
15 Y el nombre de Hebr贸n antes era Quiriat-arba ; pues Arba era el hombre m谩s grande entre los anaceos. Entonces la tierra descans贸 de la guerra.
