2:16 Some argue this verse teaches that Jesus is a biological descendant of Abraham and then question its veracity in light of Mt 1:18, which teaches that Christ lacked a biological human father. However, “offspring” in Heb 2:16 refers to the descendants of Abraham and not to Jesus. The point in this verse is that the Son, through the incarnation, helps “Abraham’s offspring” and not the angels.
