Acts 15:15 Meaning and Commentary

Acts 15:15

And to this agree the words of the prophets
In several of the prophecies of the Old Testament, which plainly speak of the calling of the Gentiles; though James thought it sufficient to produce only one instead of many:

as it is written;
in ( Amos 9:11 Amos 9:12 ) and this is agreeably to the Jewish way of citing Scriptures, as Surenhusius observes; so it is said F17, in twenty four places the priests are called Levites, and this is one of them, ( Ezekiel 44:15 ) where only one place is mentioned, instead of the twenty four.

13 After they stopped speaking, James responded: "Brothers, listen to me!
14 Simeon has reported how God first intervened to take from the Gentiles a people for His name.
15 And the words of the prophets agree with this, as it is written:
16 After these things I will return and will rebuild David's tent, which has fallen down. I will rebuild its ruins and will set it up again,
17 so that those who are left of mankind may seek the Lord- even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does these things,
