Exodus 33:2

And I will send an angel before thee
Not the angel before promised, ( Exodus 23:20 ) the Angel of his presence, the eternal Word and Son of God, but a created angel; and so Aben Ezra observes, he does not say the Angel that was known, that his name was in him; though even this was to be looked upon as a favour, and showed that he had not utterly cast them off:

and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite,
the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite;
who were now the inhabitants of the land, and these he promises drive out, to make way for their possession of it; and that "by his hand", as the Targum of Jonathan interprets it, by the hand of the angel. Only six nations are mentioned, though there were seven; the Girgashite is omitted, but added in the Septuagint version.

3 領 你 到 那 流 奶 與 蜜 之 地 。 我 自 己 不 同 你 們 上 去 ； 因 為 你 們 是 硬 著 頸 項 的 百 姓 ， 恐 怕 我 在 路 上 把 你 們 滅 絕 。

4 百 姓 聽 見 這 凶 信 就 悲 哀 ， 也 沒 有 人 佩 戴 妝 飾 。

5 耶 和 華 對 摩 西 說 ： 你 告 訴 以 色 列 人 說 ： 耶 和 華 說 ： 你 們 是 硬 著 頸 項 的 百 姓 ， 我 若 一 霎 時 臨 到 你 們 中 間 ， 必 滅 絕 你 們 。 現 在 你 們 要 把 身 上 的 妝 飾 摘 下 來 ， 使 我 可 以 知 道 怎 樣 待 你 們
