21 臣 僕 問 他 說 ： 你 所 行 的 是 甚 麼 意 思 ？ 孩 子 活 著 的 時 候 ， 你 禁 食 哭 泣 ； 孩 子 死 了 ， 你 倒 起 來 吃 飯 。

2 Samuel 12:21

Then said his servants unto him, what thing [is] this that
thou hast done?
&c.] Or what is the reason of such conduct and behaviour? they knew what was done, but they did not know the meaning of it, which is what they inquired after:

thou didst fast and weep for the child, [while it was] alive;
prayed with fasting and weeping for it, that it might live and not die:

but when the child was dead thou didst rise and eat bread;
and appeared cheerful; this seemed strange to them, when they expected his sorrow would be increased.

19 大 衛 見 臣 僕 彼 此 低 聲 說 話 ， 就 知 道 孩 子 死 了 ， 問 臣 僕 說 ： 孩 子 死 了 麼 ？ 他 們 說 ： 死 了 。

20 大 衛 就 從 地 上 起 來 ， 沐 浴 ， 抹 膏 ， 換 了 衣 裳 ， 進 耶 和 華 的 殿 敬 拜 ； 然 後 回 宮 ， 吩 咐 人 擺 飯 ， 他 便 吃 了 。

21 臣 僕 問 他 說 ： 你 所 行 的 是 甚 麼 意 思 ？ 孩 子 活 著 的 時 候 ， 你 禁 食 哭 泣 ； 孩 子 死 了 ， 你 倒 起 來 吃 飯 。

22 大 衛 說 ： 孩 子 還 活 著 ， 我 禁 食 哭 泣 ； 因 為 我 想 ， 或 者 耶 和 華 憐 恤 我 ， 使 孩 子 不 死 也 未 可 知 。

23 孩 子 死 了 ， 我 何 必 禁 食 ， 我 豈 能 使 他 返 回 呢 ？ 我 必 往 他 那 裡 去 ， 他 卻 不 能 回 我 這 裡 來 。
