12 現 在 我 既 是 恩 待 你 們 ， 求 你 們 指 著 耶 和 華 向 我 起 誓 ， 也 要 恩 待 我 父 家 ， 並 給 我 一 個 實 在 的 證 據 ，

Joshua 2:12

Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord
Which being a religious action, and done by men that feared the Lord, she knew it would be binding upon them: the Targum is,

``swear to me by the Word of the Lord:''

since I have showed you kindness;
by receiving them with peace into her house, and hiding them when inquired for and demanded of her; in doing which she risked her own, life, had this treachery to her country, as it would have been deemed, been discovered;

that you will also show kindness unto my father's house;
she mentions not herself and household, for if this was granted that would be implied and included; and this she presses for by the law of retaliation and friendship, for since she had shown kindness to them, it was but reasonable it should be returned:

and give me a true token;
that she and her father's house would be saved by them when the city should be taken and the inhabitants destroyed; a token that would not deceive her, on which she might depend, and would be firm and sure.

10 因 為 我 們 聽 見 你 們 出 埃 及 的 時 候 ， 耶 和 華 怎 樣 在 你 們 前 面 使 紅 海 的 水 乾 了 ， 並 且 你 們 怎 樣 待 約 但 河 東 的 兩 個 亞 摩 利 王 西 宏 和 噩 ， 將 他 們 盡 行 毀 滅 。

11 我 們 一 聽 見 這 些 事 ， 心 就 消 化 了 。 因 你 們 的 緣 故 ， 並 無 一 人 有 膽 氣 。 耶 和 華 ─ 你 們 的 　 神 本 是 上 天 下 地 的 　 神 。

12 現 在 我 既 是 恩 待 你 們 ， 求 你 們 指 著 耶 和 華 向 我 起 誓 ， 也 要 恩 待 我 父 家 ， 並 給 我 一 個 實 在 的 證 據 ，

13 要 救 活 我 的 父 母 、 弟 兄 、 姊 妹 ， 和 一 切 屬 他 們 的 ， 拯 救 我 們 性 命 不 死 。

14 二 人 對 他 說 ： 你 若 不 洩 漏 我 們 這 件 事 ， 我 們 情 願 替 你 們 死 。 耶 和 華 將 這 地 賜 給 我 們 的 時 候 ， 我 們 必 以 慈 愛 誠 實 待 你 。
