Zimmah [N] [E] [H]

(purpose ).

  1. A Gershonite Levite, son of Jahath. ( 1 Chronicles 6:20 ) (B.C. after 1706.)
  2. Another Gershonite, son of Shimei, ( 1 Chronicles 6:42 ) possibly the same as the preceding.
  3. Father of ancestor of Joab, a Gershonite in the reign of Hezekiah. ( 2 Chronicles 29:12 ) (B.C. before 726.) At a much earlier period we find the same collocation of names, Zimmah and Joah as father and son. ( 1 Chronicles 6:20 )
