Sheriff

SHERIFF

sher'-if (Aramaic tiphtaye' "judicial," "a lawyer," "a sheriff" (Daniel 3:2):

Probably a "lawyer" or "jurist" whose business it was to decide points of law. At best, however, the translation "sheriff" is but a conjecture.
