And Jesus said, "Father, 1forgive them, 2for they know not what they do."[a] And they cast lots 3to divide his garments.

And 4the people stood by, watching, 5but 6the rulers 7scoffed at him, saying, 8"He saved others; 9let him save himself, 10if he is 11the Christ of God, 12his Chosen One!"

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and 13offering him sour wine

and saying, 14"If you are 15the King of the Jews, save yourself!"

16There was also an inscription over him,[b]"This is 17the King of the Jews.

18One of the criminals who were hanged 19railed at him,[c] saying, "Are you not 20the Christ? Save yourself and us!"

But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
41
And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
42
And he said, "Jesus, remember me 21when you come into your kingdom."
43
And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in 22Paradise."
