John 17:1-5

Listen to John 17:1-5

The High Priestly Prayer

1 When Jesus had spoken these words, 1he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, 2the hour has come; 3glorify your Son that the Son may 4glorify you,
2 since 5you have given him authority over all flesh, 6to give eternal life to all 7whom you have given him.
3 8And this is eternal life, 9that they know you 10the only 11true God, and 12Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
4 I 13glorified you on earth, 14having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.
5 And now, Father, 15glorify me in your own presence with the glory 16that I had with you 17before the world existed.

Eternal Glory
Eternal Glory
Pastor Jack Morris

Pastor Jack Morris takes us to the final week of Jesus’ earthly ministry. As recorded in John 17:1-5, Jesus lifts His eyes to Heaven and prays, knowing the cross is just ahead. He willingly faced suffering and death to redeem us from sin. But the story doesn’t end there. The grave could not hold Him. His resurrection power not only conquered death—it continues to transform lives today. Be encouraged as we reflect on the sacrifice, the victory, and the living hope we have in Christ.

In the final week of His life Jesus was concluding His ministry on earth and faced death on a cross to redeem us from sin. We can rejoice in knowing that the grave could not hold Him and His resurrection power is still changing lives today. John 17:1-5 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."
