Jeremiah 16:14

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord
Or nevertheless, "notwithstanding" ^F4 their sins and iniquities, and the punishment brought upon them for them: or "surely", verily; for Jarchi says it is an oath, with which the Lord swore he would redeem them, though they had behaved so ill unto him: that it shall no more be said, the Lord liveth, that brought up the
children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
this was the form of an oath with the Jews, when a man, as Kimchi observes, used to swear by the living God that brought Israel out of Egypt; or this was a fact which they used frequently to make mention of, and relate to their children; and observe to them the power and goodness of God in it; and so the Targum,

``there shall be no more any declaring the power of the Lord who brought up''

12 E voi avete fatto vie peggio che i vostri padri; ed ecco, ciascun di voi va dietro alla durezza del cuor suo malvagio, per non ascoltarmi.

13 Perciò, io vi caccerò fuor di questo paese, in un paese che nè voi, nè i vostri padri, non avete conosciuto; e quivi servirete giorno e notte, ad altri dii; perciocchè io non vi farò grazia.

14 Ma pure, ecco, i giorni vengono, dice il Signore, che non si dirà più: Il Signor vive, il quale ha tratti i figliuoli d’Israele fuor del paese di Egitto;

15 ma: Il Signore vive, che ha tratti i figliuoli d’Israele fuor del paese di Settentrione, e di tutti gli altri paesi, ne’ quali egli li avea scacciati; ed io li ricondurrò alla lor terra, che io diedi a’ padri loro.

16 Ecco, io mando a molti pescatori, che li peschino, dice il Signore; e dopo ciò, a molti cacciatori che li caccino sopra ogni monte, e sopra ogni colle, e nelle buche de’ sassi.
