20 Annunziate questo nella casa di Giacobbe, e banditelo in Giuda, dicendo:

Jeremiah 5:20

Declare this in the house of Jacob
That a mighty nation should come and destroy them, and they should be servants in a strange land; or rather the words seem to be an order to declare war against the Jews, and even in their own land; and do not seem to be addressed to the prophet, but to others, seeing the words are in the plural number; see ( Jeremiah 4:5 ) : and publish it in Judah:
the house of Jacob and Judah are the same, namely, the two tribes of Benjamin and Judah; for, as for the ten tribes, as observed on ( Jeremiah 5:15 ) , they had been carried captive before this time: saying:

18 E pure anche in que’ giorni, dice il Signore, non farò fine con voi.

19 Ed avverrà che voi direte: Perchè ci ha il Signore Iddio nostro fatte tutte queste cose? Allora tu di’ loro: Siccome voi mi avete lasciato, e avete servito a dii stranieri nel vostro paese, così servirete a stranieri in paese non vostro.

20 Annunziate questo nella casa di Giacobbe, e banditelo in Giuda, dicendo:

21 Ascoltate ora questo, o popolo stolto, e che non ha senno; che ha occhi, e non vede; orecchi, e non ode.

22 Non mi temerete voi? dice il Signore; non avrete voi spavento di me, che ho, per istatuto perpetuo, posta la rena per termine del mare, il quale egli non trapasserà; e benchè le sue onde si commuovano, non però verranno al disopra; e benchè romoreggino, non però lo trapasseranno?
