Ezekiel 8:18

18 So I will take action because I'm angry, and I won't have compassion for them or feel sorry for them. Even if they shout in my ears, I won't listen to them."

Ezekiel 8:18 Meaning and Commentary

Ezekiel 8:18

Therefore will I also deal in fury
Being provoked by such abominable idolatries, and such horrid insolence, and most contemptuous treatment: mine eye shall not spare: neither will I have pity:
see ( Ezekiel 5:11 ) ( Ezekiel 7:4 Ezekiel 7:9 ) ; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice;
very pressingly and earnestly for help, being in great distress: [yet] will I not hear them;
as they turned their backs on him, he will turn a deaf ear to them, and not regard their cries. The Targum is,

``they shall pray before me, with a great voice, and I will not receive their prayer.''

Ezekiel 8:18 In-Context

16 Then he brought me into the inner courtyard of the LORD's temple. There at the entrance to the LORD's temple, between the entrance and the altar, were about 25 men who had their backs turned to the LORD's temple. They were facing east and worshiping the rising sun.
17 He asked me, "Son of man, do you see this? Isn't it bad enough that the people of Judah have done these disgusting things that you have seen here? Yet, they also fill the land with violence and continue to provoke me even more. Look how they insult me in the worst possible way.
18 So I will take action because I'm angry, and I won't have compassion for them or feel sorry for them. Even if they shout in my ears, I won't listen to them."
