Leviticus 23:28

28 Don't do any work that day. It is a special day for the payment for sins. It is a time when you make peace with the LORD your God.

Leviticus 23:28 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 23:28

Ye shall do no work in that same day
No more than on the weekly sabbath:

for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord
your God: (See Gill on Leviticus 16:30); Aben Ezra's note is,

``for you only,''

that is, for the Israelites, and not the Gentiles; but the atonement of Christ, the antitype of this, was not for the sins of the Jews only, but for the sins of the whole world, of all his people in it, ( 1 John 2:2 ) .

Leviticus 23:28 In-Context

26 The LORD spoke to Moses,
27 "In addition, the tenth day of this seventh month is a special day for the payment for sins. There will be a holy assembly. Humble yourselves, and bring the LORD a sacrifice by fire.
28 Don't do any work that day. It is a special day for the payment for sins. It is a time when you make peace with the LORD your God.
29 Those who do not humble themselves on that day will be excluded from the people.
30 I will kill those who do any work on that day.
